Dear Parents/Guardians,

As we all navigate through these unprecedented times due to the effect of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we want to share an update on sporting events.

First, this is a severe and rapidly changing issue that affects everyone worldwide. Our focus continues to be on the health and safety of everyone associated with Potomac Grade School.  We are committed to doing our part.

After much consideration, based on IDPH and IESA Return to Play Guidelines, Potomac-Armstrong Athletic Co-op has decided to not allow any spectators to athletic events at this time.  We have made considerable adjustments to our daily operations and feel it is too much of a risk to open our doors to allow spectators.

Our main goal was to allow our student athletes to play the sports that they love this year.  By limiting the number of people in the gym during these events, we have a better chance at continuing play for the rest of the year.  The bleachers will be marked for social distancing to allow athletes to sit while 7th or 8th grade games are being played.  Everyone must wear a mask at all times, including coaches, players, scorekeepers, etc.

To allow family and friends to watch their athletes, we have decided to stream our home games live on the Potomac Grade School Facebook page.

Again, we understand that this is disheartening, but we are keeping the safety of our athletes, as well as our visiting athletes at the front of our minds.

Thank you,

Candace Freeman
